Rwanda has a number of volcanic lakes including Kivu, Bulera, Bunyonyi and Mutanda. Rwanda’s landscapes in this ever green country are truly incredible. [item title="Akagera National Park Tour – 2 Days"]

rw1The Akagera boasts of unique Ecology with a combination of swampy wetlands, woodland and a few mountainous habitats. Akagera is home to the greatest diversity of large mammals in Rwanda. This safari offers game drives around the park and a boat ride on Lake Ihema.

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera national park

After breakfast at your Kigali hotel, our safari driver will pick you up and drive you to Akagera national park. A game drive on arrival may reward you with possible sightings of buffalo, topi, plains zebras, elands, impalas, giraffes, reedbucks, water bucks, elephants and sitatungas. You will have lunch at the Akagera game lodge. After lunch have a boat ride on Lake Ihema. You will view hippos and crocodiles and other marine life. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge / Dereva hotel

Day 2: Game drives in Akagera

After breakfast have another game drive along the lake circuit to view what you missed yesterday. Return to the lodge for lunch and later drive to Kigali to board your home flight.

Day 1: arrival

rw2Our Safari driver will meet you on arrival at Kanombe international airport and drive you to Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest lodge/Mountain Gorilla view lodge/ Muhabura hotel.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking/ tracking in PNV

After breakfast report to the Ruhengeri park headquarters as early as 7:00 am. After a short drill as regards your expected gorilla tracking conduct is concerned, you will enter the rain forest in search of the mountain gorillas. It is advisable to carry along with you a packed lunch, energy bite, mineral water on this expedition because sometimes tracking can last very long from 1 -6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. On locating the gorillas, the experience is so exhilarating and will be well worth the trouble. Spend a maximum of one hour with the gorillas then return to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest lodge/Mountain Gorilla view lodge/ Muhabura hotel.

Day 3: departure

Transfer to Kigali after breakfast. After lunch you will be transferred to the airport to board your home flight.

Alternatively you can visit the golden monkeys or drive to Lake Kivu, hike the Bisoke / Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey’s grave, or visit the beautiful lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest lodge/Mountain Gorilla view lodge/ Muhabura hotel.

Day 4: departure or Kigali city tour

After breakfast drive to Kigali and if time allows have a city tour visiting the genocide memorial. After lunch transfer to the airport to board your home flight.

rw4Day 1: arrival and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park

Our company driver will meet you on arrival at Kanombe airport. Drive to Nyungwe forest national park arriving late in the afternoon. On arrival report to Gisakura guest house/Nyungwe forest lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Primates walk in Nyungwe

After breakfast report to the Nyungwe park headquarters where you will be led by a ranger guide into the forest to track chimpanzees and other primates. Nyungwe is Rwanda’s most important area of bio diversity and has been rated the highest priority for forest conservation in Africa. The park boasts of 75 mammal species, 13 primate species, 275 bird species, 120 butterfly species and 1000 plant species including the rare endemic Orchids. Possible sightings in the forest may include: the Angolan colobus, L’hoests monkey, the Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey and the Grey cheeked Mangabey to mention but a few. Retire for dinner and overnight in Gisakura Guest House /Nyungwe forest lodge

Day 3: transfer to Volcanoes national park

Leave Nyungwe after breakfast and drive to Park National des Volcans in Ruhengeri. The drive from Nyungwe will take around 4 and half hours. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/ La Palme hotel/Hotel Muhabura

After a filling breakfast; transfer to the beautiful town of Gisenyi. Lake Kivu is an incredible scenic destination for relaxation after a long safari of trekking or hiking. Choose to enjoy a sun downer cruise, swim or laze in the sun along the lake shores. Dinner and overnight at Kivu Serena hotel / Kivu Sun hotel / Bethanie guest house

Day 6, Launch Cruise and transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, you will enjoy a speed boat ride on the lake. You will be able to see some water mammals and birds. After lunch drive back to Kigali for dinner and over night at Milles Collines / Kigali Serena/ Beausejour hotel

Day 7: experience Rwandan culture

Today you will visit the Ntarama genocide memorial, Nyanza palace and Kigali museum an important ethnological site. Watch the Intore cultural dance performed. Dinner and over night at Milles Collines/Kigali Serena/ Beauséjour hotel

Day 8: boat trip in Akagera national park

After breakfast at your Kigali hotel, our safari driver will pick you up and drive you to Akagera national park.
